The scientific name of diabetes is diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus is commonly named as diabetes which results in a high rate of blood sugar. The cells stored the energy in our body. It is where the sugar is produced. If someone is affected with diabetes then there may be two problems. The body either can’t produce enough insulin or it might not utilize the insulin which it produces. So it is recommended by doctors to treat high blood sugar as soon as possible. If this is not treated properly then it can even damage severe internal organs like kidneys, nerves and external organs like eyes.
Diabetes can be categorized into different types. The first type of diabetes is known as autoimmune disease. This disease makes the immune system attacks and damages the cells present in pancreas as the insulin is produced there. About 10% people all over the world are suffering from this type of diabetes. The second type of diabetes is when the patient’s body can resist insulin. The sugar is build up in the patient’s blood. Another type of diabetes is gestational. This is a type of diabetes which increases the blood sugar level during pregnancy. This type is caused when hormones are produced in the placenta for blocking insulin.
There is a very rare condition which is known as diabetes insipidus which sounds similar to diabetes mellitus but is a totally different condition. In this condition the kidney of the patient removes the excess fluid which is produced inside the body. Different type of diabetes has different causes, treatment, and symptoms.
Symptoms (general) of diabetes
- The general symptoms include
- Increased hunger
- Weight loss
- Increased thirst
- Blurry vision
- Extreme fatigue
- Frequent urination

Addition to the above mentioned general symptoms men face poor muscular strength.

Causes of diabetes
Different types of diabetes can be caused due to different reasons.
- Type 1 diabetes is caused by the destruction of doctors cells present in the pancreas.
- Type 2 diabetes can be caused by being overweight or due to genetic problems.
- Gestational diabetes is caused due to hormonal changes which take place during pregnancy. The weight that is gained during that period leads to such type of diabetes.
The risk factors related to diabetic patients
- Type 1 diabetes can be a risk to teenagers.
- Type 2 diabetes can increase if the patient it is physically inactive, have prediabetes and is above the age of 45.
- Gestational diabetes increases if the patient it has given birth to a baby who waits more than eight pounds and is above the age of 25.
Complications related to diabetes include heart attack, stroke, foot damage, depression, and dementia. Diabetes may cause serious complications or medical issues. It is the responsibility of every individual to maintain the condition of the lifestyle and proper medication.
Different types of diabetes have different treatment processes
- Type 1 diabetes can be treated with a different type of insulin. The working of the insulin in the patient’s body depends on how much the patient’s body is able to take.
- Type 2 diabetes can be treated through a special diet for the patient and some exercise.
- Gestational diabetes can be lowered by the intake of insulin.
- Diabetes can effect the women body, men and even children. So do not hesitate to visit a doctor if such problem takes place. Proper medication and taking care of the patient may be enough to control the problem as it is rightly said that precaution is better than cure.
