Influenza vaccine yearly
Influenza vaccines, also known as flu shots, are vaccines that protect against infection by influenza viruses. A new version of the vaccine is developed twice a year, as the influenza virus rapidly changes. Flu vaccine is given every year from end of August until end of June of the following month.
Spirometry
Spirometry is a common office test used to assess how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you inhale; how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. Spirometry is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing.
Electrocardiogram
An EKG is a paper or digital recording of the electrical signals in the heart. It is also called an electrocardiogram or an ECG. The EKG is used to determine heart rate, heart rhythm and other information regarding the heart’s condition.
PPD/Tuberculosis Testing
Tuberculosis testing, also known as the PPD test, is a skin test used to determine if someone has developed an immune response to the bacterium that causes tuberculosis (TB). The patient needs to return to the healthcare provider administering the test 48-72 hours after the injection, at which time the healthcare provider will examine and measure the injection site to determine if the patient does or does not test positively for exposure to tuberculosis. Further evaluation is needed if a TB test shows a positive reaction. Blood tests and x-rays are needed to confirm an active infection.
Ultrasonography
Medical ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique based on the application of ultrasound. It is used to create an image of internal body structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, blood vessels, and internal organs. Its aim is often to find a source of a disease or to exclude pathology. We have the Ultrasound service in the office every Monday morning and Thursday afternoon.
